Teddy Benfield: My Still Life

Exhibition Concept

"My Still Life" explores the changing boundaries between public and private spaces, as well as the contrasts between interior and exterior environments, and nostalgia versus immediacy in a post-pandemic world. Through still-life compositions created from everyday domestic objects, hybrid media, and symbolic settings, the exhibition reflects on how our personal spaces have been redefined due to isolation, remote work, and changes in social interaction.

The exhibition sees the interior not only as a physical space but also as a psychological landscape where memory, identity, and routine intersect. Benfield’s work invites viewers to consider what their environments reveal, what they conceal, and how ordinary spaces have taken on new emotional and cultural significance since the pandemic.
